Hello Lincoln Families,

We had a fantastic first week! It's such a pleasure getting to know everyone in our class. Thank you for the donated supplies to our classroom! They are appreciated and will be used in our classroom community all year.

The first couple of weeks are filled with activities and lessons on getting to know each other and Bear Behavior protocols in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, recess, and many others! The main focus is less on academics and more on safety procedures. However, we have been able to begin our math program! I encourage you to help your child to practice multiplication and division basic facts through 12. One way to practice is by using flashcards. I also encourage your child to try to read for at least 20 minutes a night. Everyone should have a book. Students who didn't have one from home checked out a book from our classroom library! Also, even though we didn't have media center this week because it's on Friday, Mrs. Gruchot gave us a quick tour and a book checkout.

Next week, we have NWEA testing in math and reading. The testing times will be from 9:00-10:30 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (with small breaks during that time:) Please try to have your child in school at those times. This data is important information that helps us better understand what they know and what goals we need to work on. The data will be shared at our student-led conferences in October. Thank you for your understanding.

Snacks in the Classroom

Please ensure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding. 

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!

  Music:  The 4th-grade performance is on Tuesday at 1:05. Students should wear red, white, and blue and bring their music and recorders to school.   M-STEP Math Test will begin on  Tuesday, April 22nd.  Please avoid absences on these two days. Makeups will be the following Wednesday. Thank you for your consideration.   End-of-Year Countdown: We have planned a small activity based on the alphabet each day to celebrate the final days of school . Students will enjoy a new letter-themed challenge each day , leading to a joyful celebration to wrap up the year on a high note! We need some items to help with the celebration.   Spring Conferences :  Spring conferences are held on an as-needed basis. I have emailed parents to notify them if we need a conference. If you didn't receive an email and would like a conference, please email me, and we can schedule a time. Conferences will be on Thursday, February 20th. All students are working on their student-led conference slides and goals and will present them. Students with no conference scheduled will present them at home to earn extra yards!  Kindness Party :  On Friday, February 14th, we will have our Kindness Party! The party will be from 2:00-3:00. We will not need parent volunteers. We will have light snacks, and if students want to participate in trading "Valentine" cards, the list of students is below.
