Safety Patrol Information from Mrs. Fiesbeck:

Updated information will be posted on Mrs. Knuth's Family blog.

Dear Families,
If your child has any interest in participating in Safety Patrol this year, please have them attend an informational meeting with Mrs. Fiesbeck (Room 107) on Tuesday, October 1st at 8:15am. If, after hearing about how Safety Patrol will work this year, your child is interested, this form will need to be completed before they will be given a post. Forms need to be completed by Friday, October 4th. On Tuesday, October 8 from 3:55pm-4:15pm there will be a Kickoff Meeting in Mrs. Fiesbeck's classroom. If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Fiesbeck directly at lfiesbeck@sjschools.org

Thank you!!!

In the classroom this week:

In math, we have been learning and practicing number line and multiplication strategies to compare fractions. This is a 4th-grade standard. This standard practice will continue for several weeks. I also encourage extra practice with multiplication/division fact fluency. For example, this can be done using flashcards.

In reading, we continue to take a "deep dive" into poetry and its characteristics, and writing summaries including themes. Students are also learning about discussion norms and discussing "research text".  We also are practicing fluency and accuracy in small groups.

I encourage you to talk with your child about all they learn from our math and reading lessons!

Have a great week!

Snacks in the Classroom

Please ensure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
