Hello Lincoln Families,

Our fall party is on Thursday, October 31st. The committee will put together the craft and games. However, we would appreciate it if you could help with the snack items! Here is a snack link to the list of items. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks!

On Friday, November 8th (1/2 day), we will watch the movie Winn Dixie and have a party similar to Opal's the main character in this beautiful story. Here is a list of items that we need on this Sign-up sheet. Please have the items sent in by Wednesday, of that week. Thank you for helping support our learning!

In the classroom this week:

In math, we took the unit 2 assessment. These will come home soon. As we discussed at conferences the goal is "3". However, if your child is below a "3" then we will work at Bear Time (small group) to give your child the extra practice needed. The goal is to have a "3" by the end of the year. We began Extending Operations in Fractions (unit 3) on Friday.

As we discussed at conferences, we continue to analyze poetry. Students practice discussion norms with "research texts." In small groups, we are doing a close reading of the poem, "Theme of English B" by Langston Hughes. We are analyzing characteristics, themes, and summary. I encourage you to continue the discussion at home. What is the theme of this poem?

Snacks in the Classroom

Please ensure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
