Hello Lincoln Families,

Thank you for your donations and support for Laps for Lincoln. We appreciate you! Friday night was a delightful celebration for our Lincoln family, and it was clear that everyone had a fantastic time!

Our student-led conferences were amazing! Collaborating as a team is a beautiful process for celebrating, discussing, clarifying, and creating goals. Thank you for your participation.

We will have our fall party on Thursday, October 31st. We have a committee planning it. However, if you can send in a salty or sweet treat it would be helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Thanks!

Have a great week!

In the classroom this week:

In math, we have been learning different strategies to compare fractions. I encourage you to ask your child which "tool" or strategy he or she can use to compare fractions. I also encourage extra practice with multiplication/division fact fluency.

We continue to analyze poetry and its characteristics in reading and writing summaries including themes. Students are also learning practice discussion norms and discussing "research text." We are also practicing fluency and accuracy in small groups. This last week students wrote their first informational paragraph using a rubric to specifically write a focus statement including evidence of what inspired the character Jack to write poetry.

Have a great week!

Snacks in the Classroom

Please ensure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items, for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
