Thank you to everyone who donated food and party items! Everyone loved the food and opening all the cards, toys, and candy! We are all very appreciative of the kindness spread by all!
Spring Conferences: Spring conferences are held on an as-needed basis. I have emailed parents to notify them if we need a conference. If you didn't receive an email and would like a conference, please email me, and we can schedule a time. Conferences will be on Thursday, February 20th. All students are working on their student-led conference slides and goals and will present them. Students with no conference scheduled will present them at home to earn extra yards! I will email your child's presentation to you on Thursday. All students who present their conference slides will receive a touchdown!
Report Cards: Report cards will go home the week of March 3rd. Remember, any standard graded below a "3", your child will continue to get extra practice individually or in small groups through the next trimester. The expectation for a "3" is by the end of the year.
On Friday, February 28th, we have a half-day. Because our class clips have touched the floor and March Reading Month is approaching, we will celebrate with a "Read-In" and "Candy Salad!" For the read-in, students can bring blankets, snacks, stuffed animals, and pajamas. For the candy salad, students bring in a box or bag of candy, and we mix it all together. I will send more information in next week's blog.

Reading: Module 3: American Revolution parent information (We will not do the homework portion of this program:)
Math: Unit 5: Students interpret, represent, and solve multiplicative comparison problems by understanding the relationship between multiplication and division. They use this thinking to convert units of measure within a given system from larger to smaller units. home connection video
Social Studies: Students will learn about the history of the Underground Railroad in this unit, the history of the automobile industry and the labor movement in Unit 3, and the public issue of water in Michigan in Unit 4.
Science: Students took the assessment on the Human Machine unit. We will now focus on social studies. When social studies is finished, we will begin The Birth of Rocks. In this unit, students investigate features and processes of the Earth’s surface. Students explore the rapid process of volcanic eruptions! In contrast, students also explore the gradual Earth processes of weathering and erosion. Students apply their knowledge and design solutions to mitigate the impacts of these processes on humans.
