Report Cards: Report cards went home on Friday. Remember, any standard graded below a "3", your child will continue to get extra practice individually or in small groups through the next trimester. The expectation for a "3" is by the end of the year. Please send back the envelope signed and keep the report card.

Here is the rubric that explains the learner behavior score on your child's report card.

If your child is participating in GOTR, it was brought to our attention that the Girls on the Run race is the same day as our Lansing trip. Since we have to plan this trip a year in advance, there's no way to know about other events. However, we plan to leave Lincoln by 7:30 a.m., so if you plan to chaperone the trip, you should be able to leave Lansing with your daughter and have plenty of time to make it to the race. More details to follow.

In the Classroom:

Please ask your child what they are learning in our classroom!

Reading:  Module 3: American Revolution parent information (We will not do the homework portion of this program:)

Math: Unit 6: Students multiply and divide multi-digit whole numbers using partial products and partial quotients strategies and apply this understanding to solve multi-step problems using the four operations. Home Support Video: MultiplyHome Support Video: Divide

Social Studies: Students will learn about the history of the Underground Railroad in this unit, the history of the automobile industry and the labor movement in Unit 3, and the public issue of water in Michigan in Unit 4.

Science: We will now focus on social studies. When social studies is finished, we will begin The Birth of Rocks. In this unit, students investigate features and processes of the Earth’s surface. Students explore the rapid process of volcanic eruptions! In contrast, students also explore the gradual Earth processes of weathering and erosion. Students apply their knowledge and design solutions to mitigate the impacts of these processes on humans.

Snacks in the Classroom

Please ensure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example, please do not use yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on school devices, furniture, new carpet, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! Students who would like to celebrate birthdays in our class should bring non-food items, such as pencils, instead of cupcakes. Sometimes, parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
